Identify the releases
Use the v4.0.4 classic release for the Python-backed desktop and electron-go-v4.0.4 for the Electron frontend with private Go worker.
Choose the classic edition
Use it when you need established Python modules or classic workflows. Verify the packaged worker and run one local health request.
Choose Electron + Go
Use it for direct IPC, the Go HTTP/WebSocket engine, authorization matrices, protected project storage, findings, and Playwright workflows documented by the Academy.
Check project separation
Back up and export before moving evidence between machines or editions. Never point two running editions at the same writable database.
Validate packaging
Record application version, worker version, Chromium availability, install path, and a smoke test on the operating system package you use.
Prove it before moving on.
You can justify the selected edition and prove its application, worker, browser, and project paths are functioning.
